Worth the Visit!
The community of Lumsden is nestled in the Qu'Appelle Valley just 15 minutes north of Regina on Hwy. 11. Whether you are a day tripper or a vacationer looking to experience the bounty of the prairies we are the perfect destination! There is so much to see and do . . . visit one of the several market gardens on Hwy. 20 between Lumsden and Craven, or spend a day at the beach on Long Lake or walk/bike the TransCanada or Sawhet trails. Maybe you want to play a round of golf or ride horses through the hills or canoe the Qu'Appelle River. The possibilities are endless! With unique shops, art galleries, restaurants, parks, historic churches and sites, a museum, a petting zoo, festivals and valley views at every turn you won't be disappointed.
Just west of town, on the scenic Seven Bridges Road, is the Wong barn. It has been the backdrop to family pictures and wedding photos, painted by local artists and photographed for its majesty and reminder of days gone by. This local landmark was owned by Fred Carss, nephew of Ed Carss, the first man to settle in the Lumsden district in 1881. Time has taken its toll on this local landmark as evidenced by its crumbling foundation.
